Wallpaper Shops Glasgow Biography.
Born in Scotland in 1958 Alan Morrison has worked in many fields of art including; Illustration, Mural, Scenic and Fine Art, Specialist Decoration and Teaching.
After studying at Glasgow School of Art from 1976-1981 he received his Bachelor of Art in Illustration and won the Newbury Medal. In Glasgow he produced work for Scottish Opera and The Royal Shakespeare Company before moving to London in 1985.
He joined Ian Fleming Illustration Agency gaining numerous commissions from companies such as Hawker Siddeley, British Telecom and 20th Century Fox. At the same time he was producing more personal paintings for One Man Shows in London derived from subjects like Theatre and Portraits.
In 1986 his portrait of Andrew A. Celli was selected for The John Player Portrait Award in The National Portrait Gallery in London. It won praise not awards from Art Critic Brian Sewell who described it as “animal intense, portrayed in a way no photographer could match”.
Since 1989 he has taught in various colleges including Chelsea College of Art and Kent Institute of Art and Design, now known as University College for the Creative Arts working mostly in the Foundation Department as Visiting Lecturer.
From 1992 Morrison left Illustration and Painting work to venture into Scenic and Mural Art working on diverse projects such as Michael Jacksons Dangerous Tour Launch Party in Munich to painting Ceiling Murals in Prince Zabeels Palace in Dubai.
In 2006 he finished a large 13 piece mural for a private client in Kuwait. Most of his work was to a brief and included Trompe L’Oeuil and Specialist Decoration.
After a brief visit to Australia in 2006 for Sketchbook Work he relocated to Brisbane where he now teaches at Brisbane Artists Academe and is now currently working and experimenting on new work for a return to Exhibition Showing.
